Accelerating Innovations to Market (AIM)

Accelerating Innovation to Market 2021

2021 AIM Grant - Application Closed.

About the Program:

The Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) with Premier Innovation Partnership members and support from expertise from Mintz, are pleased to announce a call for applications for Accelerating Innovations to Market (AIM). These programs are designed to accelerate the translation of UC San Diego technologies to market and support the formation and growth of startups in the regional ecosystem. The 2022-2023 call for Applications will open on June 1st, 2022, and will be managed through the UC San Diego Infoready project submission platform.

OIC is working with Premier Innovation Partners EMD-Serono, Merck KGaA Darmstadt, and Takeda to provide mentoring, resources, funding, and access to partners and investors to advance ideas from UCSD labs through feasibility projects and validation prototypes, and ultimately to scale. Programs are designed to lower the risk of technology transfer, strengthen the UC San Diego innovation ecosystem, and increase social and economic impact. Furthermore, by working together, we can pool resources, funding, and our networks of partners along with investors to assist more teams and startups than ever before.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are key parts of what makes AIM a successful program with enduring impact. AIM intentionally seeks to recruit and engage entrepreneurs and innovators from historically marginalized communities as an integral strategy to address the underrepresentation of diverse founders and the communities that technologies are destined to serve. Furthermore, industry panelists are selected to be representative of the identity parity of the university because representation and role modeling are important at all levels of the program in the effort to advance the mission of OIC at UC San Diego.
