2020 AIM Grant - Application Open & DEADLINE EXTENDED to October 7th, 2020

About the Program:

The Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) with Premier Innovation Partnership members are pleased to announce a call for applications for Accelerating Innovations to Market (AIM). These programs are designed to accelerate the translation of UC San Diego technologies to market and support the formation and growth of startups in the UC San Diego ecosystem. The 2020-2021 call for Applications will open on August 3rd 2020, and will be managed through the UC San Diego Infoready project submission platform - note that it will be visible on the open date.

The funding focus is on the following areas;

  • Software-based healthcare technologies
  • Medical devices or diagnostics tools
  • Therapeutics, antibodies & small molecules
  • Pandemic preparedness
  • Women's health
  • Microbiome interventions
  • Electroceutical therapies
  • Quantum Computing
  • Life Science Tech Development
  • Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and diagnostics
  • If not listed above, the proposal must be pertinent to some aspect of healthcare or health and medical sciences

OIC is working with Premier Innovation Partners EMD-Serono, Merck KGaA Darmstadt, and Takeda to provide mentoring, resources, funding, and access to partners and investors to advance ideas from UCSD labs through feasibility projects and validation prototypes, and ultimately to scale. Programs are designed to lower the risk of technology transfer, strengthen the UC San Diego innovation ecosystem, and increase social and economic impact. Furthermore, by working together, we can pool resources, funding, and our networks of partners and investors to assist more teams and startups than ever before.
