Godfrey Reggio , award-winning filmmaker and co-founder of the Institute for Regional Education in Santa Fe, NM., was Sixth College’s first Convocation Speaker in Spring 2004. Best known for his collaboration with the composer Philip Glass in the creation of the internationally acclaimed “Qatsi” series of three feature-length films—Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi—Reggio’s non-narrative films are characterized by a fluid interplay between original music, vivid imagery, and unusual visual editing. See The Qatsi Trilogy related links for more information on Reggio's visionary film works.
Reggio spoke on the subject “The New Terra Firma: The Technological Environment.”
