On January 31, 2017, UC San Diego Office of Innovation and Commercialization hosted Taner Halicioglu in our Evening with an Entrepreneur series.
Taner Halicioglu graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Computer Science in 1996 and went on to work as a software engineer at various companies in Silicon Valley. He was one of the first operations engineers at Facebook, where he worked on site growth from about 1 million users to around 300 million users when he left the social media giant in 2009. He recently donated $75 million to UC San Diego’s data science program.
Taner was interviewed by long-time friend and colleague Allison Long Pettine, Founder Partner of SEED San Diego.
